As it turns out, no one did.
The lighting efficiency project at Innovative Packaging has been complete for less than two years, but the savings are being realized at a pace beyond initial expectations. The new low wattage fluorescents have performed very efficiently and the zone lighting has worked beautifully.
When no traffic enters a zone for at least 15 minutes, the lights turn off automatically until motion is detected in that zone. That reduces usage in low traffic areas of the plant.
That helped Innovative experience a 45% reduction in the cost to light the facility. Along with an incentive from the power company we were able to realize $18,000 in first year savings. We were also able to realize a tax benefit in excess of $70,000.
